OBP Baseball Program
Baseball teams and athletes are now able to practice with our specialized programming and experienced trainers. This hands-on approach helps players build confidence, improve teamwork, and develop a deeper understanding of the importance of every practice and their individual growth.
Coaches can schedule practices at OBP and let our expert trainers run the full session. Players benefit from focused fundamentals first — throwing, catching, hitting mechanics, fielding positioning, and base running — while also being challenged with competitive, game-like scenarios that sharpen skills and game awareness. At the same time, coaches get to observe how a former D1 player and coach structures and leads effective, high-level practices.

OBP Team Practice

OBP Athlete Sessions
Our sessions are open events where athletes can come train together with a group of players and our experienced trainers. Sessions are scheduled based on trainer availability and deliver focused, high-quality instruction when it matters most.
Upcoming softball sessions — including skill-specific training, hitting & pitching sessions, fielding & throwing sessions, and specialty development programs — are posted in our account portal. Both girls and boys softball sessions are offered.
OBP Batting Cage Rentals
OBP offers three batting cages perfect for softball teams and individual athletes. Each tunnel measures 60 x 12 feet. Cage 1 is available with HitTrax and captures and analyzes key metrics such as exit velocity, launch angle, distance, spin rate, and pitch velocity.
Cage 1
$60 for a 30 minute single rental.
$80 for a 60 minute single rental.
Cage 2, 3
$30 for a 30 minute single rental.
$50 for a 60 minute single rental.
Up to 3 guests plus coach per visit sharing any single rented cage.
For combined rentals of multiple cages, the maximum is 12 players + 1 coach. If your group is larger than 12 players, please contact OBP directly to arrange a full turf rental.
OBP Lessons
Individual athletes benefit from more targeted one-on-one sessions with our experienced trainers. These private lessons focus on fundamentals first — throwing, catching, hitting mechanics, fielding positioning, and base running — while also challenging athletes with competitive, game-like scenarios to sharpen skills and game awareness.
Both girls and boys softball sessions are offered.

Baseball with Steve
Steve is a graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School and Bentley University, where he earned a degree in Finance. He has spent the past 16 years in the Real Estate and Mortgage industries and is now pursuing one of his passions in his spare time—coaching young athletes. Coaching comes naturally to Steve, and he finds great fulfillment in helping players grow and develop both on and off the field.
Playing Career Highlights:
- Successful high school career with opportunities to play at Division I and Division II programs
- Chose to attend Bentley University, where he played all four years, including three years as a starter
- Part of a historic senior season at Bentley:
- Team broke the NCAA National Home Run Record for home runs per game
- 98 home runs in 41 games (2.39 per game)
- Ranked 26th nationally in home runs per game
- Hit 12 home runs, earning All-Conference honors
After graduating, Steve continued his baseball career in the Yawkey Amateur Baseball League of Boston for six years.
Post-College Achievements:
- Batting average of .350+ each season
2 Gold Glove Awards
2 Silver Bat Awards
Selected to play in the league’s All-Star Game at Fenway Park

Maddy Carpe, OBP Softball Director
Maddy Carpe has a complete utility type experience from playing multiple positions to coaching at the collegiate level. She specializes in Hitting, Fielding, and Catching.
- Harvard University coaching staff (2 years), Defensive Specialist Assistant Coach. In addition to leading defensive efforts, she was instrumental in hitting preparation and recruiting.
- Boston College (2020-2023) Co-Captain
But OBP thinks her most impressive accomplishments:
- The Eagle Award, which reflects Boston College’s mission to learn, seek truth, and live with purpose
- The Welles Crowther Patch, awarded to the player who best represents BC’s motto: Men and Women
